Title Of Album: Dog House Music
Year Of Release: 2006
Label: Electro-Fi Records
Genre: Blues
Quality: flac
Art: scans

Notes:
Originally known as a hot blues harmonica player in his adopted home of Austin, Gary Primich has matured into an accomplished singer/songwriter who works in a variety of rootsy styles. Pulling together strains of '50s rockabilly, roadhouse electric blues, honky tonk country and New Orleans-style early rock & roll, Ridin the Darkhorse is unpretentious, blue-collar roots rock. Rather than being restrained by inappropriate attempts at "authenticity," Primich wisely considers all forms of music he likes to be grist for his mill, so the album features catchy pop-rockers like "Wig City" alongside the rockabilly rave-up "Daddy Let Me Hitch a Ride" and the pure blues "Pray for a Cloudy Day." The production is enjoyably plain, but not lo-fi or completely unadorned, and Primich is in fine voice throughout. ~ Stewart Mason
